Mary has been the Store Operations Manager at Marquette Food Co-op for 10 years. She also serves as Vice President on the board of directors for the Women's Center of Marquette and has been an adjunct professor at NMU in the Hospitality Management Dept. Mary is a Detroit native who discovered the U.P. when she moved here for college, receiving her BS in Hospitality Management from NMU in 2000. She holds an MBA from Western Governors University. Mary is the proud mom of two teenage girls and knows the struggle to get them licensed in the U.P. is real. Determined to find a solution for that problem teamed with her entrepreneurial spirit while out for a walk one evening with her good friend, Lisa, and 46 North was born.
In 2013, Lisa founded 529 Books, an editing and book design company, so she could run a business from home and travel for her daughter's sporting events. Prior to 529 Books, the U.P. native worked in the television industry, then as a caregiver, and she subbed at the high school level for five years. By 2023, with her only child off to college, Lisa was ready to get her nose out of her laptop full-time and connect with her community. Her degree in Theatre from Arizona State University has served her well as a professional writer and editor, an Alzheimer's advocate, and a teacher, and she's excited to bring those skills to the driving school classroom and behind the wheel.
"YOU DON'T NEED COMMITTEES TO SOLVE THINGS. JUST FIND TWO WOMEN WHO ARE IN A REAL MOOD ABOUT SOME CRAP AND SEND THEM ON AN EVENING FITNESS WALK."
